Q&A With Mugammad Barnes, Lead Associate - SME Customer Services

- What’s your role at TotalEnergies Gas & Power?
I help our customers in a number of ways, from taking initial calls to the various follow up communications. No two queries are ever quite the same, but I make sure everyone is helped to the best of my ability so they leave both delighted with me and with the service they got from TotalEnergies Gas & Power.
I also work on the more complex 'escalated' customer queries and call-backs. As a long-standing member of the team I train new joiners, ensure that we're fully compliant when dealing with with energy emergencies and assist both new and more seasoned agents with queries that require additional support.
- What do you most enjoy about your job?
I get to speak with customers from a wide range of businesses every day and get great satisfaction from figuring out solutions to their queries. Most of all I enjoy resolving sometimes complicated issues that I take at other agent's desks. As I've got the experience and am confident in my abilities I can help train the colleagues on how to best manage similar situations in the future.
…and what do you find most challenging?!
At the moment, the biggest challenge is not being able to resolve more complex issues assigned to me right away. Usually in these cases I'm reliant on other departments or third parties (such as energy brokers and managing agents) getting involved and coordinating their response, which means it can take longer to get resolved.
3. What’s the best work advice you’ve ever received?
Be willing to sacrifice some things to build the career you want, always be willing and eager to learn - and be open-minded to constructive criticism!
4. What are you best known for?
I am best known for always working hard and giving my absolute best, I am also known as the calm and respectful guy that is always willing to help.
