You may remember that we recently announced that we were setting ourselves some targets to help reduce our carbon footprint and therefore contribute to the Total Group’s commitment to being carbon net zero by 2050.
I’m delighted to inform you that we’re progressing extremely well against the targets, as shown by the above pictures.
In addition, we’re:
- Evaluating the business case for sub-metering the energy used in our Redhill office and connecting our metering and building management systems to an online monitoring platform.
- Taking steps to offset any residual CO2 emissions once we have procured certified renewable power from wind and solar generation sources for our Redhill and Leeds offices. We plan to offset these emissions using UK-based tree planting schemes.
- Working on sourcing a renewable energy supply contract for our Newcastle office.
- Offering new, sustainable energy products (check out https://www.gas-power.total.co.uk/carbon-net-zero):
- Pure Renewable products for our customers (gas and power)
- Solar proposition in Major Business
- Carbon Offsets for customers
And we’re working towards:
- Reducing our travel emissions and costs
- Encouraging staff to look at how they travel e.g. making the most of the Cycle2Work scheme
- Building a plan to future-proof our offices for electric vehicle use
- Exploring the ability to offer electric vehicles as company cars
- Letting the wider world know about our commitment via our website
Thank you to all those who have helped so far, but we can’t rest on our laurels. We need to be conscious of reducing our carbon footprint in all that we do.
