Music, crunches and going against the grain - homeworking tips from Michael Fenn

1. Find a good playlist (and stick to it) – not everyone wants music on all the time, but having a soundtrack adds some colour to the day and breaks the monotony. You may not be able to change your surroundings, but you can go for a change of mental scenery.


2. Stuck on something? Work it out! One benefit of home-working is that if you have room to stand up, you have room for exercise – squats, push-ups, crunches, whatever suits you – it can help you refocus, relieve muscle-stiffness and aches, and ultimately help you to stay healthy.


3. Don’t believe the hype! There are so many tips flying around (including some that contradict each other) and not everything is going to work for you. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain – maybe you’re more productive in your pyjamas, or you run a conference call better from your bed than from your desk. Remember that there’s no wrong way; this is about what’s best for you.
