We had the pleasure of hosting Mary Starks from Ofgem at our offices in Redhill
Who is she?
Mary is the Executive Director of the Consumers and Markets directorate and oversees Ofgem's work to protect consumers' interests in the retail and wholesale energy markets.
Why is this visit important to us?
As Ofgem is currently reviewing the microbusiness market, we have the valuable opportunity to raise the profile by talking about our history in the UK and Europe, including our current customer needs, and the products and services we offer. Equally important, we are acting as a field expert by giving insight into the B2B market, covering the microbusiness review, and learnings on some of our key issues, including TPI codes of conduct and debt management. We have already been lobbying Ofgem regularly by representing TGP and our customers, however, this is the first time we had someone of this seniority visiting us, so we made sure she had some time with Paul Margetts, Robert Kerr, and Tony Bartlett to discuss compliance and customer service.
Did we make an impact?
Definitely, Mary built a good understanding of the differences between B2B and domestic customers, existing challenges in the marketplace, and best-practice from our experiences in other European countries. We also re-enforced our lobbying position on the important microbusiness consultation. All in all, a great visit for TGP!
More news on that later in the year. Thanks to everyone involved in making it a success!
