As we begin a new year I wanted to share with you the many People highlights in 2019. Whilst not everything has been perfect and it can often be easy to focus on what still needs to be done to continuously develop and progress, it is also important to stop, reflect and recognise what has been achieved.
Back in January’s edition of Switched On, we ran (pun possibly intended…) a piece on Charlie Ramsay, Alex Crabb and Dan Spence who were partnering with London Youth to run the London Marathon.
With mid-year appraisal time coming up a lot of people may be feeling anxious. Perhaps excited, perhaps worried or perhaps none of those things. We all want to be thought of well and no one looks forward to criticism, right? All being well we are appraised on how competent we are at our jobs and not on other aspects of ourselves.
As mergers go we’ve had some big ones…Vodafone and Mannesman, America Online and Time Warner, Beyonce and Jay-Z, and not to mention Fina, Elf and Total…but they don’t get much bigger than this. Yes, Major Business Retention and Acquisition have recently merged to create Major Business Direct Sales a new dedicated sales channel boasting an elite team of nine and headed up by Ken McCaig.
13th to 17th May was mental health awareness week, and Total Gas & Power participated with a whole range of activities.
In February this year we took part in Time to Talk day, a day which promotes the importance of making time to talk and check-in with each other. Although just one day out of the year, we hope the sentiment continues much longer. Problems with mental health can effect anyone, at any time. Stress alone caused more than 15 million days off work across the UK in 2017/18. With the pressurised, busy environment we work in, looking after ourselves and our colleagues and friends has never been more important.
The Sales year got off to a slow start but the upward trend is positive news with February above target.
International Women's Day is celebrated every year on 8th March, celebrating the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women. This year's theme was balance for better, leading the way for a balanced world being a better world.
The ‘Awesome You’ section of Switched On began its life as a place where TGP staff could shout about their achievements, both in and out of work. It very quickly became a bi-monthly summary of baby announcements and charitable endeavours – both incredible feats, and definitely worth shouting about – but in 2019 we’re re-widening the net!
On 28th April 2019 the 39th Annual London Marathon will be taking place. The gruelling 26.2 mile race will as always run from Blackheath, past some of London’s most well-known landmarks and finishing with a final push down The Mall.
The Sales year was rounded off in style with a great November across the board.
