We caught up recently with the Energy Management team to learn about their world and what makes the team tick...

How would you describe your team’s responsibility to a 10 year old?

energy 1We predict how much energy our customers will need, and we then go to the market to buy this at the best possible price.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

gas prices

The recent surge in gas and power prices and extreme market volatility presents huge risks to us as a supplier. To be on the front line in managing these risks is exciting, even if it is also stressful at times!

What projects are you working on now?

We are developing a new model to accurately predict the consumption of our power customers. This will improve our ability to mitigate the impact of price volatility on our portfolio. energy prediction

We are also conducting an in-depth review of our market risk to ensure that we are adequately covered and seeking ways to reduce this risk where possible.

green energy-2We continue to work on onboarding new and innovative sources of green energy generation into our portfolio.

keep customers informed-2Lastly, we have been working on a series of bespoke communications to relay the latest market information to our flexible customers to ensure that they can continue to make informed hedging decisions.

What has been your biggest team accomplishment in the past year?

resultsContinuing to deliver strong results during unprecedented market conditions has been a major accomplishment for us and is the result of hard work from within Energy Management and beyond.
