Carbon Net Zero
We spoke to Mark Rose, Project Sponsor for TGP’s Carbon Net Zero project (CNZ) about what it means for us, for our customers and for our business…
Many countries, including the UK, have committed to being carbon net zero by 2050. This means any emissions are balanced by schemes to offset an equivalent amount of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, such as planting trees or using technology like carbon capture and storage.
The Total Group has also publicly pledged to meet this target and we are very much part of that commitment.
TGP has set up a Carbon Net Zero committee to contribute to two immediate goals:
- A 25% reduction in TGP’s carbon footprint by the end of 2020. This includes everything from how we run our buildings and how we work to the ways we travel.
There are opportunities for staff to directly benefit too, such as the Cycle-to-Work scheme.
- Increasing the range of renewable energy and offsetting options for our customers.
We will be launching a new, pure green electricity product as well as carbon offsetting products to Major Business customers later this month. These complement the renewable offerings we already have.
