With lockdown now starting to feel like the new norm, it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come since March.
We are continuing to run our business, continuing to work hard as a team, pulling together to support one another and doing our best to juggle priorities and commitments. We’ve adopted new ways of working, new means of communicating, and we’ve embraced them with an open mind and a positive attitude. Whilst we continue to do our best to futureproof our business, there are others in different professions who are also working hard. But for them, failing to survive this crisis may have devastating, far-reaching consequences.
Several weeks ago, the SMT committed to spending £100,000 across local charities and community initiatives that need it the most at this time. Unfortunately, the efforts of some charities have been thwarted due to fund-raising events being cancelled whilst demand for their services has, in many cases, increased. Some significantly so.
We tasked the CSR Committee with finding out who these charities are as well as how they’re coping right now. And I’m delighted to say that we have now concluded the search and signed off the funds which are now on their way to them. You can read more about the worthy causes in this newsletter.
It may seem strange for me to tell you that we’re not going to turn a profit this year and in the same month donate £100k to charitable causes. However, we had agreed that the we would make a positive difference to the communities that we operate in through our CSR endeavours and we felt this was the right thing to do in areas where so many of you live. I hope you agree.
Lastly, as it’s mental health awareness week, please do continue to take good care of yourselves and make use of the various resources, should you need them, which can be found in previous newsletters here.
Yours,
Dave
