Turn and face the strain,
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Business Efficiency Steering Committee
Whilst reading this newsletter you’ve probably been thinking “When am I going to read something really exciting?” Well, dear reader…the wait is over.
In the summer of 2017 the Business Efficiency Workstream (BEW) was created, sponsored by Mr Robert Kerr. Its aim is to prioritise and mobilise resource for projects that enable Business As Usual operations to improve efficiency. The Steering Committee has representatives from all areas of the business, providing a forum to raise, assess and drive changes.
A key initiative of the BEW is implementing 17 core KPIs for the business so we can measure efficiency. To that end BI are working tirelessly (when they haven’t damaged their Achilles tendons) with the business to ensure we are able to build and report on KPIs. This work will continue throughout 2018.
So far there have been improvements to the way that we manage and control customer contracts, the CQMS policy has been re-trained out and there is continuing work on the fixed quotation process.
In addition the process management work looks to capture and map the company’s processes, providing business continuity and a strong foundation for knowledge, benefitting all. These improvements also include IT changes (<30 days development time); a change scheduled this quarter is to increase the CQMS character limit of notes from 1,500 to 4,000.
How can you get involved? The best ideas are generated from the people doing the job, so if you see or hear anything you think could be improved, please do not hesitate to raise these to your BEW Representative.
