In the last edition we wrote about Buckingham Palace, which is part of The Royal Household contract, supplied by TGP. As many people didn’t realise we supplied this customer, future publications will shine a light on some of our well known (and less well known) customers.
In this edition we take a look at a worldwide brand, IKEA in honour of the founder of IKEA, Ingvar Kamprad, who passed away on the 27th January. Many of you will have a Billy Bookcase in your living room; even more of you will have spent at least 2 hours trying to find your way out of one of IKEA’s notoriously confusing stores.
We supply electricity to all of the UK based IKEA stores. The contract wasplaced through a broker called Energy Cost Advisors (ECA). Their usage is a massive 73 million KWh. This is enough electricity to power the Solomon Islands for an entire year. Using something a bit closer to home, that’s enough energy to power 730 million kettles. Fortunately, I know a Scandinavian retail store that could help source them all! (For those as curious as I, Vattentat is the IKEA name for a kettle).
