Multiverse is a leading external training provider, offering a comprehensive range of technology-focused courses. These programs cover everything from A-Level equivalents to degree-level qualifications, ensuring professionals receive a thorough education that meets the demands of today's industry.
To enrol in the Metaverses courses, the apprentices expressed their interest as part of their Professional Development Plan (PDP) for 2023, and discussed it with their manager. Out of the applicants, five 5 members of the Commercial & Transformation team (Ceiran Sheehan, Ross Parry, Anna Conway, Ailsa Gilbert and Steve Donhue) were shortlisted and ultimately selected to pilot two courses:
- “Data Literacy”, focusing on Data Analysis, Dashboards, visualisations and data driven decision making.
- “Advanced Data Fellowship” focusing on Data Analysis, visualisations, Python analysis and Machine Learning.
All apprentices have now completed the first year of the respective training courses, delivering a series of portfolio projects in line with the delivery modules and a final project tying everything together that was presented to an independent moderator.
After 2.5 hours of presentations for each course, the apprentices' knowledge and application of the learned methods were evaluated against the course standards. All apprentices successfully met the criteria and received their certificates in Q3-2024. Well, done! 👏
"Together, apprentices and managers will hold a feedback session to plan our next steps and integrate these new skills with current training like DataCamp, ensuring our teams are well-equipped for the future."
(Ceiran Sheehan, Pricing Project Manager & Multiverse apprentice)
The courses themselves have highlighted the way these tools can be used to drive business benefit, with PowerBI an excellent tool for generating insight and painting a picture with data and Python a powerful way to collate and analyse large data sets, very useful in a company like ours. Using this with Snowflake will be a key next step, as while most of the learning on this course was statistical metrics and forecasts, there are many other practical uses for Python that would be worth exploring to improve efficiency within our teams and wider department.
Ceiran Sheehan (Pricing Project Manager) and Ross Parry (Commercial Data & MI Manager) have moved on to the full level 6 course. In the first year, they will focus on Data Infrastructure, Security, Data Engineering, and Strategy. The second year will cover Data Transformation, Statistics, and Advanced Machine Learning, culminating in a final project and presentation due in 2026. Keep going guys!
