Seriously dough….we’ve got some exciting news to share.
We’ve awarded our Scottish Procurement Community Benefit Fund to a very worthy winner!
It’s a batch made in heaven, and we’re delighted to announce that Forth Valley College have been awarded the full £8,500 for their ‘Recipe For Success’ cooking courses.
The Community Benefit Fund is a pot of money that we’ve committed to the Scottish Procurement Framework in support of local projects which directly support the community.
Customers on the Framework had the opportunity to apply, by demonstrating the community value and benefit of their project.
We had some great entries, but Forth Valley College in Falkirk Scotland were successful with their application and it’s rewarding to see something we’ve been trying to get off the ground for some time come to fruition, and that we hope to continue making a difference to communities over the coming years with the remainder of the funding!
Rising to the occasion
The Forth Valley College project aims to improve overall mental health and wellbeing, addressing the cost -of-living crisis where students find themselves in a ‘heat or eat’ situation. Aiming to support 480 students per week with free breakfast and/or lunch, this project is set to be further enhanced with the introduction of recipe cards and ingredients bags with produce sourced from local growing initiatives.
The wider benefits for the community arise from raising awareness about food sustainability, supporting the community through the cost-of-living crisis, increasing retention rates, and raising awareness of climate change and eco systems. We had a great chat with the team at Forth Valley and everyone is excited to get this project off the ground and up and running.
Pauline Jackson, who’s the Development and Funding Manager is looking forward to working with us on this:
“We were delighted to have been awarded the funding and really look forward to working with TotalEnergies on this project. The cost-of-living crisis continues to impact communities and these classes will help our students to make healthy meals but also have fun learning new skills”.
Our very own Mark Rose was also pleased to hear this money is going to good use:
“We are thrilled to have awarded Forth Valley College the Scottish Procurement Community Fund for 2023. We felt their project captured the essence of helping the community, specifically within the local student population, supporting them with gaining new skills to enable them to eat and cook well on a budget.
Forth Valley College demonstrated a robust need for this type of provision to help the community in light of the cost-of-living crisis and we wish them every success with this new project.”
Let’s hope their newly found cooking skills are worthy of a Hollywood handshake!
