Thank you all for your hard work this year, for demonstrating such grit and determination whilst navigating through choppy waters. This business is built on the great people that turn up every day and give us your all – and that’s every one of you. Thank you.
The Star Awards is an annual opportunity for you to nominate your colleagues to win an award. Colleagues who you think deserve some recognition for living and demonstrating the TotalEnergies values. Day in, day out, these values guide our actions and our relationships with stakeholders while serving as the foundation for achieving our collective ambition, which is to be a world-class player in the energy transition.
Last year was an exceptional year for us all and we changed the categories slightly to reflect the environment we found ourselves in. This year, despite the challenging environment, we’ve reverted to the core values-based categories.
By way of a reminder, our TotalEnergies values are:
- Safety
- Respect for each other
- Pioneer Spirit
- Performance-Minded
- Stand Together
For this year’s awards, we asked you to nominate colleagues in the following 4 categories:
- Respect for each other
- Pioneer Spirit / Innovation
- Performance-Minded
- Stand Together / Teamwork
In keeping with previous years, we also included 2 categories of our own:
- Customer Focus
- The SMT Special Recognition Award.
Many of you took the time to vote and it’s been a pleasure reading about our talented, driven, supportive workforce. Choosing the runners up and the winners wasn’t easy in some categories, but we managed to get there in the end.
Respect for each other.
This category puts people at the centre of our business. It’s about maintaining good relationships and listening to each other.
The runner up received votes “For being transparent, polite and treating people with courtesy and kindness”.
Congratulations Ekatarina Nedelcheva (Finance)
The winner was chosen not only for the sheer number of votes he received, making him the people’s favourite, but also because of him being “a huge support” and listening to others.
Congratulations Luis Padron (Data Ops).
Stand Together / Teamwork
This value is about empowering people to grow in a caring environment and drawing support from our strength as a team.
The runner up received multiple nominations. We were told that “No ask is too big” of him and that he was “creating an amazing working environment”.
Congratulations Michael Slater (Data Ops)
The winner of Stand Together / Teamwork takes us up to the North East of the country. This person was nominated for pulling the sales teams together to drive a strong performance and because. Among other things, she keeps her colleagues engaged and focused.
Well done Louise Willumsen (SME Sales)
Performance-Minded
Just doing something is not enough; we must do it exceptionally well and this is what being performance-minded is about.
The Runner Up in this category was nominated because he challenges the way we do things with a view to making improvements and is a “great embodiment of performance”.
Well done Aidan Dempsey (SME Sales).
The winner in the performance-minded category is someone who has demonstrated “impeccable” attention to detail. Someone who “runs the largest portfolio in Sales Development contributing significant value” to the business as well as someone who receives regular praise from customers and partners for her consistent high performance.
Many congratulations to Clara McGrain (MB Sales)
Pioneer Spirit
This value encourages us to be curious and innovative and teaches us how to adapt and overcome adversity.
The runner up received nominations thanks to him being described by his colleagues as always striving towards a larger goal and someone who wants to make other people’s lives easier through reporting and formulas.
Well done to our runner up, Alex Stringfield (Data Ops).
The winner was nominated multiple times for demonstrating her desire to improve working practices and make genuine change to assist the wider business. She was also nominated for regularly going above and beyond the core responsibilities of her role and reaching out to discuss ideas for new projects that will improve training and increase knowledge throughout the business in the future.
Many congratulations to Coral-Leigh Newby (Business Improvement).
Customer Focus
For being a clear communicator, for helping with the MTM and GRIT packages and for generally being happy to help, the runner up is Taylor King (IT)
The winner in this category had multiple nominations from her colleagues. Her colleagues told us that “Scot Proc Love her” as well “she genuinely cares. She loves her customers” and that she always takes the time to help customers even if they are not her own, often going above and beyond. A very worthy and popular winner – congratulations Nelly Kervarec (MB Servicing)
And our final award is the SMT Special Recognition Award.
This award is chosen by SMT. This is because sometimes there are initiatives that take place which are undertaken by people who willingly do so on top of a busy ‘day job’ often working in their own time to make a positive difference to our people, our culture and our business. People who have a passion for a specific subject matter, people who don’t do it for recognition or because they have to but because they want to and because they care.
Well done to our runner up: Meena Sparkes-Mahi (Business Improvement & D&I Change Champion)
And sometimes there’s important and often urgent work that takes places that isn’t widely known about. It can be challenging, critical, complex work that we depend upon as an SMT. We rely on these committed individuals to support us using their skill and expertise to help us make strategic business decisions that affect our business today and in the future.
I’m delighted that the winner of our final award goes to someone who was also nominated multiple times in a number of other categories: James Hughes (Commercial)
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, to everyone who received a nomination (your names will be displayed on the screens in our offices) and to you all for everything you do for us every day.
