What is your favourite part about working for TotalEnergies? 

More so than anywhere else I’ve worked, it has been an education on how business works. It’s an interesting thing to be a part of.

What energises and drains you when you are at work?

Drains me: doing anything I consider to be a tick-box exercise. Either change it so it has some meaning, or don’t do it.

Energises me: Spreading the word that compliance isn’t as boring or dry a subject as you may think!

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you… 

• I have done a skydive.
• I once worked on a husky farm in the Arctic.
• I am a big fan of The X-Files.

Which fictional character do you feel you're most like? What traits do you share with them?

I’m a bit like Alan Grant from Jurassic Park. He’s old school, sceptical of technology and likes dinosaurs. Like him I’m happy to be left in a hole, digging in the dirt. He’s also reliable. Mark Corrigan from Peep Show also comes to mind lol… He is sensible and a bit of a worrier…

What’s the best career advice you have received? 

Someone once told me to ‘wave my flag’ and by that they meant to speak up and offer to do something if it needs doing and you want a crack at it. Don’t wait to be asked.

What is on your bucket list?

Visit Costa Rica (for the rainforest and the animals); spend a night in an ice hotel; own a dog; eat at The Fat Duck.

Describe your perfect weekend in 5 words?

Sleep, snow, film, wine, cheese.
