Offshore dispute between Total and Unite

A dispute over working conditions on three North Sea platforms operated by Total will go to the independent arbitration service Acas. Workers on the Elgin, Alwyn, and Dunbar platforms who are members of the Unite union have taken part in several 12- and 24-hour strikes; their concerns include a move to a ‘three weeks on and three weeks off’ rota. A spokesperson for Total said: "This is a constructive step forward and we look forward to renewed talks to help resolve this dispute."

The power of God: Churches convert to renewable electricity

The Church of England’s procurement group, Parish Buying, is buying renewable electricity through Total Gas & Power. Thousands of British churches and cathedrals have now converted to renewable power, diverting millions of pounds from fossil fuels to clean energy. Mark Rose, Total Gas & Power’s Director of Major Business, said: “Total has made a commitment to provide cost-effective, reliable, and clean energy to as many people as possible, and supplying the Church of England with 100% renewable electricity is a great example of how we are doing this.”

Iran to refund Total's South Pars investment

Iran will reimburse Total for its investment in the South Pars natural gas field, but not until phase 11 of the multibillion-dollar project becomes operational, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said on Saturday. Total signed a contract in 2017 to develop phase 11 of the field with an initial investment of $1 billion, but it pulled out of the project in late August after failing to obtain a waiver from reinstated U.S. sanctions on Tehran. “Total is not supposed to pay a sum as a penalty to Iran, but the money that this company has invested in phase 11 of South Pars until now will not be reimbursed until the time of operation and production,” Zanganeh was quoted as saying by SHANA, the news site of the oil ministry.
