Can you remember your New Year resolution? No, me neither. Only 46% of people manage to keep their New Year resolutions. So how can people maintain them and keep focused.

Here are my tips to help you keep your resolutions:

  1. Break your goal down into manageable chunks. For example, if you want to quit smoking, set yourself a challenge that by a certain date you will be on 5 cigarettes fewer than usual, rather than telling yourself ‘I will never smoke again’.
  2. Keep recording your progress. By doing this, if you have a bad moment you can look back at how far you have come, which will help you to remain positive.
  3. Set realistic expectations. A challenge is good but putting too much pressure on yourself will not be motivating to your end result.
  4. If you slip up, just get back up and on with it - you are only human and mistakes are there to be made and learned from.
