The festive time is such a great time of year where it’s acceptable to drink and eat as much as possible – it’s fine, because everyone else does it, right?
Food and drink is a major theme of Christmas but over indulging can lead to digestive and dehydration problems. The best way to combat this is to moderate everything. If you have a fitness routine do not change that - this can make things more difficult when you get back to it. We have so many parties and nights out over Christmas and New Year and this usually involves a lot (possibly a bit too much) alcohol this alone can make you feel dehydrated and sluggish. The sensible thing to do is to really watch your consumption and be mindful that drinking to excess can cause serious damage.
Aside from food and drink there are other things that impact ones wellbeing over the holiday season and for a lot of people stress is a major issue. There is so much pressure with shopping, the big day, hosting parties, making sure relatives and guests are looked after that we just forget about ourselves. Taking time out for yourself is paramount around this time. You might not be able to fully escape but a winter walk or losing yourself in a good book can do wonders. I like to have a pamper day at Christmas - it’s the perfect time to unwind and use all your new smellies!
