Making the transition from working in an office to full time at home would be challenging for most people - even in normal circumstances.

But throw in a pandemic, closed schools and gyms, new work pressures, a complete decimation of your social life and unlimited time with your family (or yourself!) and you can very quickly feel overwhelmed!

So in times of crisis we turn to our leaders for advice on how to survive - and thrive - in these 'interesting' times...

Peter McLeod’s top tips
  • Try to include a hard stop in your day when you can switch off your computer and not go back to it until the morning. This will help you to manage work-life and home-life. (For some that’ll be easy… you can close the door of the room your computer is in. However, I know a lot of us don’t. If that’s the case, try and put your computer away out of sight - or throw a cover over it!!

  • Set yourself some SMART goals, be that monthly, weekly, daily or all three! Without goals to keep us on track, we risk being constantly distracted by email, teams, workplace, phone calls and so on and letting our own objectives fall by the wayside.

  • Try and keep a sense of normality by doing something enjoyable that you would normally do at work. Be that a lunchtime walk or a morning chat and a coffee with a colleague, there’s no reason why this should change. (See the cartoon to see how Richard and I do it!)

Richard Dutton's top tips

  • Marry a teacher
  • Don’t give your children sugar unless you have had an argument with your wife!
  • Don’t argue with your wife, the combination is toxic!
