Previously named the Total Green School Awards, the Better Energy School Awards are back!
In the last edition we wrote about Buckingham Palace, which is part of The Royal Household contract, supplied by TGP. As many people didn’t realise we supplied this customer, future publications will shine a light on some of our well known (and less well known) customers.

Following the last issue’s review of the IT Application Support Team, this month we look further North to our office in Leeds to gain insight into the Direct SME Sales Team that reside there.
The team is run by the inimitable Paul Sidebotham and deal with all direct sales for gas and power customers from a number of sources. These include returning customers, COO (Change of Occupancy), cross sell opportunities, deemed customers moving to a formal contract and new business customers.
To help steer both experienced and new managers, a set of guiding principles to define what it means to be a great manager at TGP has been created. It’s called the Manager’s Charter.

Brent was born and bred in Cape Town, however he has lived abroad for 5 years which is where he caught the traveling bug. He has been to New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, UK, USA and his personal favourite, the islands of Fiji.
On the 12th & 13th of October two communication days were held in South Africa with our teams based in Cape Town at the Villagers Rugby Club. The days were a great chance for us to share more of our vision for the business and the values we feel will be core to delivering on this. Like the UK events they were designed to be informative, but an opportunity for the teams to suggest ideas and ask questions.
I turned up. I listened. I learned about our new vision. I bought into the new values. I was in awe of the magician. And for the most part, I actually enjoyed myself.
